Project

Rail Grab Facility for Rio Tinto, Karratha WA

About the project

TECS designed, constructed, programmed, wired and commissioned all electrical infrastructure for the rail handling facility.

After the success of a similar project for Queensland Rail (now Aurizon) at Yeerongpilly, TECS was asked to deliver the same on a much larger scale in Karratha, Western Australia, for Rio Tinto.

Iron rails are welded and transported along conveyors to be stored and then loaded onto trains. The cranes are automated, and every rail is coded and tracked by the software.
